Handgun Safety & Marksmanship

This class is designed for new shooters and is the first step in the Sharp Shooting Training Program. The course will introduce students to the fundamentals of marksmanship, operation of semi-automatics and revolvers and firearm safety. The class includes a live-fire portion using .22 LR and 9mm/.38 Special firearms. All equipment and supplies provided by Sharp Shooting. This class requires a student to be at least 14 years of age and if under age 18, accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Women & Guns

This class closely follows the curriculum of Handgun Safety and Marksmanship, but is conducted in an all-female, new shooter-friendly setting. This course will teach not only the fundamentals of marksmanship, operation of semi-automatics and revolvers and live-fire manipulations, but will expand upon female-specific topics such as carry options, firearms selection, use of force considerations and other topics. This class includes an extended live-fire session to allow for more one on one instruction.

Firearms Ownership And You

Most, if not all, new firearms owners, are disappointed in the lack of clear, concise information regarding the laws governing firearms. Safe storage, concealed/open carry, having firearms in vehicles, contact with law enforcement, use of force, justification for using force and a variety of other topics. This class is taught by a practicing attorney.

Defensive Handgun 1

This course expands on the basic fundamentals taught in the Handgun Safety and Marksmanship/Women and Guns course and introduces the student to basic defensive-oriented firearms manipulations. Topics covered include drawing from the holster, changing magazines, clearing malfunctions and target selection/engagement techniques. This class is conducted in a fast-paced, high round count environment and is not intended for beginning shooters. Students must have completed Handgun Safety and Marksmanship or Women and Guns, or have prior permission from the Training Director to attend this course.

Defensive Handgun 2

This course will offer additional skills and techniques to further the student wishing to sharpen their defensive handgun skills. Topics cover include shooting from alternative positions, use of cover and movement. This course is a high-round count, skill intensive course and requires that the student be able to demonstrate the basic skills and techniques taught in Defensive Handgun 1, but may be taken out of order with the permission of the Training Director.

Defensive Handgun 3

This course is a shooting-intensive course taught almost exclusively in a range environment. Skills taught are based on real-world engagements and statistics and are intended to push the individual shooter and prepare them for potential real-world use of their defensive firearm. Topics covered include flashlight techniques, forward and lateral movement, search techniques, strong and support hand engagement techniques and other skills as time allows. Students must be able to demonstrate the basic skills and techniques taught in Defensive Handgun 1, but may take this course out of order with the permission of the Training Director.
